About Me

I have an utter fascination with 1950s and early 1960s transport vehicles and I have always loved the Dinky Toys I played with when growing up.

About Me

G'day,

My name is David and l was born in the UK then moved to South Australia just before christmas 1970 with my parents .l always had a facination for toy cars even back in the UK. l always wanted the older ones that had rubber tyres (in those days they were bringing out speedwheels )and l hated them with a pasion !!!! l started to collect models of yestteryear then found some old dinkies that looked like vintage cars of the 30's so thats how it all started ...and the rest is history..Now l have a very good collection of prewar and early postwar dinkies in my collection,my collection of dinkies starts from 1933 -64 as l think they are the pick of them without all the novelty ideas they had after that. lt has taken me nearly 40 years to get all of the castings in original form ...but of course l will never get every colour and livery variation.but l am working on it !!!! The collection is housed in my Toy museum that l opened in 1994...l also collect meccano with over 100 boxed sets from 1909 to current and over 35 models built from meccano including a working giant blocksetting crane ,also on display are hornby 0  gauge trains  having a working 30 x 20 layout...l am also a keen landrover nut and have over 800 model and toy landrovers on display... my son and l collect real ones as well having over 40 in our collection from 1949-95 and a couple of WW2 army jeeps and a few classic and vintage cars....my other hobbies are fixing and restoring vintage and classic cars and building 1/2 scale vehicles...and yes l am still happily married!!!! so thats about it ....Always interested in meeting people with similar interests

About Me

I have been collecting the proper Dinky Toys since 1952 and Solidos a bit later since the Jaguard D. All this amounts to about 2000 models

When I retired ten years ago I decided tolist my collection on the computer. After several months of work, I realised that this was not possible because I had not realised how many variations, colour samples, promotional models etc... many of which were not known at the time.

Thanks to the internet and mainly to "Talk Model Toys" and the "Dinky Toys Collectors Association" I have met many excellent and knowledgable collectors. It is by adding our knowledge that I could turn the work already done into the Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia.

This Encyclopaedia is like a web site but it is on a DVDrom. All the 3000 pages are linked by thousands of links which allow very fast surfing through the subjects. Any model can be found in only two or three clics and each page contains everything concerning a model.

If this encyclopaedia was to be printed it would be on a dozen volumes. I am adding to this unique document almost every day, an unknown  casting variation has been discovered last week.

About Me

Hello

My name is Craig and i was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1978. My father was a bus driver and my mother a good old fasioned house wife. I have always had a fasination with model die cast cars and vehicles and as far back as i can remember, i always had a collection of 'toy' cars.

I never kept any of them, which i deeply regret. I wasn't interested in collecting until i bought my first copy of Model Collector magazine early in 2011. Since then i have truly been bitten by the bug!!!!!!!!!!!

My collection to date contains Corgi Vanguards models and also 1 Corgi Original Omnibus model, i do however really want to build a collection of Dinky toys. I will admit that my knowledge of Dinky is very limited, but i am keen to learn all about these models and their history. I know that Meccano had something to do with them, but apart from picking up bits of info through Model Collector magazine, that is all that i really know.

I am hoping to speak to like minded collectors through this club that can hopefully guide me on the path to collecting these fabulous models.

Any help and info is greatly appreciated.

Craig

About Me

:) Hello!  My name is Kent Sjölin, with the nickname Dvalin, I am 60 years old and live in Malmö - Sweden. Since one year I collect Dinky Toys made by Editions Atlas, and I think the models are very good, but maybe a little expensive, after all they are replicas! I only collect 1/43 scale models from "Meccano France - Bobigny" and not the English ones because they are 1/47 scale.  My other interest is music. movies, stamp and coin collections, good food , beer, mead and many other things!

About Me

Hello,

My name is Paul - I am from Northampton. I was introduced to Dinky toys in the 1970's by my father who amassed a large collection of boxed Guys, Fodens, Leyland Octo's etc. Sadly these all got sold to invest in his other interest - Vintage tractors.

At the age of 45 I have got back into Dinkies again - but have littlle interest in the post war commercials.I spend the evening's searching ebay for the old crumbly pre war models - hence my pofile image - a boxed 23m which I picked up cheap(ish).

About Me

Hello,

I am Rutger Cornelissen, a Dutchman living in Germany. I am 37 years old and started collecting Dinkies only last year. It all started when my dad gave me his childhood Dinkies on my birthday this year. I fell in love with them and decided to start a collection.

I mostly like my dinkies in playworn condition. It just adds to the history of them. You can really see that some have been somebodies favorite toy. So far I have only changed the occasional tyre. Therefore I am really happy I can find all the right tyres on Dinky North East. I have not really restored any Dinky, but that might change in the future.

Thanks to Ebay my collection is growing fast. It gives me a lot of pleasure to search the ebay listings for a good deal. The most fun however is finding a little gem on a fair, car booth sale or in a second hand shop.

I could also join the Atlas collection, which started in Germany last year. So new dinkies are coming in as well. The funny thing is I always wanted to have a real classic car, but thanks to the dinkies I have the feeling I have a garage full of them now :)

I am looking forward to chat with likeminded collectors and hope to find some via this post.

About Me

Hi all,  I'm an old geezer from London now spending more time in Madeira-Portugal.  I brought my first dinky in 1949, an A40 Devon in maroon colour, cost 9p-still got it. That was the start of my collection then my elder brother joined in as well. Over the years we also collected Corgi and Spot On plus Morestone, Britains, Matchbox and other makes. We gave collecting a rest for over 30yrs as marriage and raising our families took priority of course. Then I had 5yrs racing m/bikes,a Yamaha Tz then after that 5yrs international classic car rallying, then came retirement.  I started collecting a few more about 8yrs ago. By now some of my earlier models needed new tyres etc, hence the good help of Kenny Gray. Most models are original but I have a few restored ones. I sold a lot when we did a house move as the collection was over a thousand. Hundreds of most types I still have and its great to see the work some of the chaps on here have done with some models. I have some pictures in the 'Friends  Photos'  Album Gallery. I like to set up pictures of some models, like the IXO model Hitlers open Merc and SS guards or a gentle country train station scene with Dinky cars in the yard. Any model you maybe after let me know as I have 2 daughters who just dont collect at all.!! Good hunting out there in the toy world and all the best to you. Picture is me and co-driver in my MK1 GT Cortina on Lombard-Britania Rally in'92.
