Hi

It is with great sadness that I and my brother Kevin have to inform all members that our Dad Kenny Gray passed away suddenly but peacefully on 20th April 2015.

However, we will carry on this site as long as we possibly can in his memory and you can contact us regarding tyres etc. on our email:  [email protected]   Tel: 01771 624542

Regards

Beverly Osler (Kenny's daughter)

About Me

I have an utter fascination with 1950s and early 1960s transport vehicles and I have always loved the Dinky Toys I played with when growing up.

About Me

Hello,

I am Rutger Cornelissen, a Dutchman living in Germany. I am 37 years old and started collecting Dinkies only last year. It all started when my dad gave me his childhood Dinkies on my birthday this year. I fell in love with them and decided to start a collection.

I mostly like my dinkies in playworn condition. It just adds to the history of them. You can really see that some have been somebodies favorite toy. So far I have only changed the occasional tyre. Therefore I am really happy I can find all the right tyres on Dinky North East. I have not really restored any Dinky, but that might change in the future.

Thanks to Ebay my collection is growing fast. It gives me a lot of pleasure to search the ebay listings for a good deal. The most fun however is finding a little gem on a fair, car booth sale or in a second hand shop.

I could also join the Atlas collection, which started in Germany last year. So new dinkies are coming in as well. The funny thing is I always wanted to have a real classic car, but thanks to the dinkies I have the feeling I have a garage full of them now :)

I am looking forward to chat with likeminded collectors and hope to find some via this post.

About Me

I am lucky insofar as my wife can't complain about my Dinky addiction, as she started it all by buying me the little Shire book on Dinkies. I saw all the models I had as a child and immediately thought -- Hey, I know what I could do. As you might expect, it didn't stop there. I have about 300 dinkies and other items such as Timpo, Arbur and River Series, although I am not sure if I should have mentioned those others! Being of modest means, I have few good originals, most of my collection consists of playworn items and restored ones. I go slowly and try to do as good a job as possible. I also enjoy making up new items from Dinkies too damaged to repair effectively.

My particular likes are the immediately pre-post war car series, up until about 1950. Also the Bedford 25 series and Guys and Fodens. I have most of the variations, not quite all. I am fortunate to still have a few of my own models from childhood, which survived the attacks of a younger brother.

As to personal information, I am married, live in Moray, NE Scotland, and enjoy other activities, such as puttering round on my old Motorbike, cultivating Auriculas and writing.

I should have joined this site a while ago, but I am the world's worst (or best?) procrastinator.

About Me

G'day,

My name is David and l was born in the UK then moved to South Australia just before christmas 1970 with my parents .l always had a facination for toy cars even back in the UK. l always wanted the older ones that had rubber tyres (in those days they were bringing out speedwheels )and l hated them with a pasion !!!! l started to collect models of yestteryear then found some old dinkies that looked like vintage cars of the 30's so thats how it all started ...and the rest is history..Now l have a very good collection of prewar and early postwar dinkies in my collection,my collection of dinkies starts from 1933 -64 as l think they are the pick of them without all the novelty ideas they had after that. lt has taken me nearly 40 years to get all of the castings in original form ...but of course l will never get every colour and livery variation.but l am working on it !!!! The collection is housed in my Toy museum that l opened in 1994...l also collect meccano with over 100 boxed sets from 1909 to current and over 35 models built from meccano including a working giant blocksetting crane ,also on display are hornby 0  gauge trains  having a working 30 x 20 layout...l am also a keen landrover nut and have over 800 model and toy landrovers on display... my son and l collect real ones as well having over 40 in our collection from 1949-95 and a couple of WW2 army jeeps and a few classic and vintage cars....my other hobbies are fixing and restoring vintage and classic cars and building 1/2 scale vehicles...and yes l am still happily married!!!! so thats about it ....Always interested in meeting people with similar interests

About Me

I have been collecting the proper Dinky Toys since 1952 and Solidos a bit later since the Jaguard D. All this amounts to about 2000 models

When I retired ten years ago I decided tolist my collection on the computer. After several months of work, I realised that this was not possible because I had not realised how many variations, colour samples, promotional models etc... many of which were not known at the time.

Thanks to the internet and mainly to "Talk Model Toys" and the "Dinky Toys Collectors Association" I have met many excellent and knowledgable collectors. It is by adding our knowledge that I could turn the work already done into the Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia.

This Encyclopaedia is like a web site but it is on a DVDrom. All the 3000 pages are linked by thousands of links which allow very fast surfing through the subjects. Any model can be found in only two or three clics and each page contains everything concerning a model.

If this encyclopaedia was to be printed it would be on a dozen volumes. I am adding to this unique document almost every day, an unknown  casting variation has been discovered last week.

About Me

Hello,

My name is Paul - I am from Northampton. I was introduced to Dinky toys in the 1970's by my father who amassed a large collection of boxed Guys, Fodens, Leyland Octo's etc. Sadly these all got sold to invest in his other interest - Vintage tractors.

At the age of 45 I have got back into Dinkies again - but have littlle interest in the post war commercials.I spend the evening's searching ebay for the old crumbly pre war models - hence my pofile image - a boxed 23m which I picked up cheap(ish).

About Me

I am 50 years old, and I work at Rolls-Royce as a fitter building jet engines. I have become interested in collecting Dinky and other die cast models because I have an interest in old vehicles themselves. Also like a lot of people I had models as a kid. I looked after them but I just passed them on when I was in my mid teens. Of course now I regret that, but you can't keep everything.

I collect pre 1970's models as the later hotwheels, whizzwheels and superfast stuff for me lost the plot. I do have a few of these but the increasingly unrealistic and cheapened down designs missed the point. I only want to buy made in England/Great Britian models anyway.

About Me

I am a retired Primary head teacher and left the profession a year go although I still  work as an education consultant. i have been a military modeller for many years with an interest in the american Civil War. I am also a re enactor and am a member of the 18th Missouri Regiment which is based in the south of England. This said i have only managed one outing with the regiment in the last four years because of pressure of work and distance involved. I became interested again in Dinky toys fairly recently and started collecting about a year ago.

I had many cars and truck as a youngster but never had any new ones, only those which I obtained through swapping. Most of my male family members were lorry drivers including my father. My grandfather and one of my uncles were Carters and later with other uncles and my dad drove Albions, Bedfords, Scammels for British Rail, Dodges, Austins and the like. I therefore have a real interest in lorries from the early fifties and before. I have enjoyed buying worn models and restoring them although I may not have the depth of experience to ensure complete authenticity, I will keep trying however!

I also make hand made reproductions of gunleather from the American West circa 1865 - 1875. These are as authentic as I can make them using illustrations and other research material and are hand cut, stitched, coloured and proofed. I have sold a few, mainly to those in the English market.

Dinky toys are my passion at the moment and are allowing me to relive my boyhood and through restoration enable me to have some models that look brand new which I never had as a youngster.

About Me

Been collecting, restoring,Code 3 and other modifications to Dinky toys over a period of 60 years starting around 1947. Unfortuately my collection does not go back as far as Kennys but maybe I'll get there someday.

Live in NSW Australia, born and bred here and will no doubt die here but not just yet as I've too many toys to restore, renovate or modify.

This hobby has allowed me to generate many friends and acquaintances through out the world - something which probably not have happened but for the internet.

About Me

Sometimes known as Chris Knight,  I've been collecting Dinkiy Toys since I was about 3 years old, since 1949. I still have a few from those early days. My main activity now is code 3 Dinky military vehicles (sorry Kenny) and restorations generally. I have been hyperactive on ebay buying and selling Dinky and Corgi, and others as Gizmouk, for about 5 years but I'm tailing off now as I find I have far more diecasts to restore than I have years left to do them in. :)

About Me

Hello out there in the cyber world,

I was born in 1950, In Vryheid Natal, South Africa. My Father and Mother moved to Northern Rhodesia, ( Zambia) a state in Africa when i was but three months old. My father went to work for himself cutting logs for the Copper mines near a town called Kitwe, 15 miles from the border of the Congo.

Here i had the pleasure of growing up in the most tropical country that you could dream of.

My first Dinky was given to my by my father at the age of only 9 years, i still have this Dinky in my possession today (in its box). i will leave a photo of that as well.

I would love to leave more info as time goes by.

thank you
