About Me

Hello

My name is Craig and i was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1978. My father was a bus driver and my mother a good old fasioned house wife. I have always had a fasination with model die cast cars and vehicles and as far back as i can remember, i always had a collection of 'toy' cars.

I never kept any of them, which i deeply regret. I wasn't interested in collecting until i bought my first copy of Model Collector magazine early in 2011. Since then i have truly been bitten by the bug!!!!!!!!!!!

My collection to date contains Corgi Vanguards models and also 1 Corgi Original Omnibus model, i do however really want to build a collection of Dinky toys. I will admit that my knowledge of Dinky is very limited, but i am keen to learn all about these models and their history. I know that Meccano had something to do with them, but apart from picking up bits of info through Model Collector magazine, that is all that i really know.

I am hoping to speak to like minded collectors through this club that can hopefully guide me on the path to collecting these fabulous models.

Any help and info is greatly appreciated.

Craig

About Me

I am lucky insofar as my wife can't complain about my Dinky addiction, as she started it all by buying me the little Shire book on Dinkies. I saw all the models I had as a child and immediately thought -- Hey, I know what I could do. As you might expect, it didn't stop there. I have about 300 dinkies and other items such as Timpo, Arbur and River Series, although I am not sure if I should have mentioned those others! Being of modest means, I have few good originals, most of my collection consists of playworn items and restored ones. I go slowly and try to do as good a job as possible. I also enjoy making up new items from Dinkies too damaged to repair effectively.

My particular likes are the immediately pre-post war car series, up until about 1950. Also the Bedford 25 series and Guys and Fodens. I have most of the variations, not quite all. I am fortunate to still have a few of my own models from childhood, which survived the attacks of a younger brother.

As to personal information, I am married, live in Moray, NE Scotland, and enjoy other activities, such as puttering round on my old Motorbike, cultivating Auriculas and writing.

I should have joined this site a while ago, but I am the world's worst (or best?) procrastinator.

About Me

I am 50 years old, and I work at Rolls-Royce as a fitter building jet engines. I have become interested in collecting Dinky and other die cast models because I have an interest in old vehicles themselves. Also like a lot of people I had models as a kid. I looked after them but I just passed them on when I was in my mid teens. Of course now I regret that, but you can't keep everything.

I collect pre 1970's models as the later hotwheels, whizzwheels and superfast stuff for me lost the plot. I do have a few of these but the increasingly unrealistic and cheapened down designs missed the point. I only want to buy made in England/Great Britian models anyway.

About Me

I live in the Netherlands and am a avid collector of military Dinky, which collecting field I widened by including all variants in boxes and vehicles. As this is nearly complete my main collecting interest is in Dinky military tradeboxes. I suppose I will never get them all, as these are very hard to get. But I manage to get a few a year, it always keeps me busy with this hobby.

As a second Dinky interest I have a rather large collection of Dinky catalogues and leaflets from all countries Meccano exported Dinkies to. So another specialised interest, which I find very interesting, and which still needs my attention every day.

In daily life I work for a large bank handling cases of insolvency. I am married to Elisabeth an we have two kids, who have finished their studies and now life on their own. By the way, my real name is Jos.

I love going to the UK, which is my favourite holiday country!

About Me

Born in St Helens, Lancashire I  have always had a collection of Dinky toys in my youth in the 1950's.Loved the buses and coaches and had a large collection at one stage. I still own a few but do not collect as such.My Meccano set was well used as a kid as well and I still own that.My hobby is restoring old sad looking scrap Dinkies and sell  them on to collectors or repairing them for other collectors.I have done this for over 40 years. It is always pleasing to know that models I have restored are in a collection on display somewhere. Not just in UK but all over the world. I usually buy & sell on e bay. Also I collect tinplate toys.

Dinkies  both pre war and post war for me have that certain charm about them, as did all Binns Rd toys, that can never be replaced. One of my recent restorations is pictured.Once a sorry sight, now as good as new.

About Me

Been collecting, restoring,Code 3 and other modifications to Dinky toys over a period of 60 years starting around 1947. Unfortuately my collection does not go back as far as Kennys but maybe I'll get there someday.

Live in NSW Australia, born and bred here and will no doubt die here but not just yet as I've too many toys to restore, renovate or modify.

This hobby has allowed me to generate many friends and acquaintances through out the world - something which probably not have happened but for the internet.

About Me

Collecting Dinky toys for 15 years now, resuming where I left off when I was younger. Now collecting French and English Military items, boxed and unboxed. I also collect Dinky catalogues and other advertising material.  Have finally completed my apprenticeship with Chris Knight!!!, I now convert and restore Dinkies to Military specifications.

I live in Swords, just outside Dublin and make most of my purchases through E-Bay and the web. While there are toy fairs in Ireland both north and south these are generally quite small and infrequent. I also travel over to the mainland to toy fairs on occasion.

See attached Some recent conversions of Dinky Military Tank Transporters.  I am really impressed by the standard of the restorations and conversions on this site, some real professional work.

About Me

Sometimes known as Chris Knight,  I've been collecting Dinkiy Toys since I was about 3 years old, since 1949. I still have a few from those early days. My main activity now is code 3 Dinky military vehicles (sorry Kenny) and restorations generally. I have been hyperactive on ebay buying and selling Dinky and Corgi, and others as Gizmouk, for about 5 years but I'm tailing off now as I find I have far more diecasts to restore than I have years left to do them in. :)

About Me

Hello out there in the cyber world,

I was born in 1950, In Vryheid Natal, South Africa. My Father and Mother moved to Northern Rhodesia, ( Zambia) a state in Africa when i was but three months old. My father went to work for himself cutting logs for the Copper mines near a town called Kitwe, 15 miles from the border of the Congo.

Here i had the pleasure of growing up in the most tropical country that you could dream of.

My first Dinky was given to my by my father at the age of only 9 years, i still have this Dinky in my possession today (in its box). i will leave a photo of that as well.

I would love to leave more info as time goes by.

thank you

pieter

About Me

G'day,

My name is David and l was born in the UK then moved to South Australia just before christmas 1970 with my parents .l always had a facination for toy cars even back in the UK. l always wanted the older ones that had rubber tyres (in those days they were bringing out speedwheels )and l hated them with a pasion !!!! l started to collect models of yestteryear then found some old dinkies that looked like vintage cars of the 30's so thats how it all started ...and the rest is history..Now l have a very good collection of prewar and early postwar dinkies in my collection,my collection of dinkies starts from 1933 -64 as l think they are the pick of them without all the novelty ideas they had after that. lt has taken me nearly 40 years to get all of the castings in original form ...but of course l will never get every colour and livery variation.but l am working on it !!!! The collection is housed in my Toy museum that l opened in 1994...l also collect meccano with over 100 boxed sets from 1909 to current and over 35 models built from meccano including a working giant blocksetting crane ,also on display are hornby 0  gauge trains  having a working 30 x 20 layout...l am also a keen landrover nut and have over 800 model and toy landrovers on display... my son and l collect real ones as well having over 40 in our collection from 1949-95 and a couple of WW2 army jeeps and a few classic and vintage cars....my other hobbies are fixing and restoring vintage and classic cars and building 1/2 scale vehicles...and yes l am still happily married!!!! so thats about it ....Always interested in meeting people with similar interests
